① Wrap a measuring tape around the fullest part of your head, horizontally above the ears and above the eyebrows (about half a centimeter higher). Compare the measurement with the size chart of the helmet you intend to buy and see which size it corresponds to on the manufacturer’s size chart.

Note that two different helmet brands do not make the inner diameter identical, so always compare against the manufacturer’s specific size indicated on each helmet.

There are three types of fit: too small, too large, and the right size:
Place a finger between the helmet’s interior and your head. If it fits easily, try a smaller size.

Too large – hold the chin area and slowly move it horizontally and vertically; if your cheeks don’t move but the helmet does, the helmet is too big.
Too small – the helmet should not be too tight; if it is too tight, some areas, such as the chin, may not be fully covered. A problem also arises when the helmet presses on the forehead and the back of the head, causing discomfort.

Right fit – put on the helmet and see how comfortable you feel. It should fit well, but not so tight that it causes discomfort and creates so-called “hot spots”. It should be slightly snug on the cheeks: hold the chin area and slowly move it horizontally and vertically. If the cheeks or the helmet don’t move and you feel great, the size is chosen correctly.

When fitting the helmet, if you feel pressure on the forehead, the helmet may be too round for your head.

Head shape plays a decisive role in choosing the right motorcycle helmet. Every manufacturer shapes its sizing to its specific form. This often varies among three main shapes – long oval, intermediate oval, and round oval.

The helmet should sit evenly on the head, at the upper edge of the eye, above the eyebrows, and provide good peripheral vision from side to side.
